Kas Haverkort continues with VAR for ‘23 FRECA campaign
Zeewolde, March 9, 2023 – Van Amersfoort Racing is excited to announce that Dutch racing talent Kas Haverkort is set to continue with VAR for the 2023 Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine (FRECA). As last year, Kas will be competing alongside teammate Joshua Dufek, who was recently announced by the team.
After dominantly claiming the Spanish F4 Championship title in his single seater racing debut back in 2020, Kas meticulously builds up his racing career. 2021 saw the now 19-year-old Dutchman moving up the motorsport ladder when he entered the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine, in what was only his second season after closing off a successful karting career.
Whereas his first FRECA campaign was clearly meant to be a learning experience, Kas progressed strongly in the same class the year after, as he first joined Van Amersfoort Racing. In no less than eleven out of twenty races, Haverkort claimed a top five finish, stood on the podium five times, and registered two race wins to his name.
The youngster from Heemserveen, Netherlands returns to FRECA in 2023 to settle unfinished business. With his eyes on the championship title, Kas is determined to put his past experience to use and compete at the front end of the grid. Not necessarily an easy task as the ’23 FRECA line-up sees multiple highly talented drivers making their appearance.
‘’Last year was great, but I am ready for more!’’ says Kas Haverkort. ‘’I am very much looking forward to attacking the new FRECA season again together with VAR. Last season we made great progress throughout the year, and we will keep that momentum going into the upcoming season. I have grown close to the team and as a result we are able to communicate very effectively, which will surely benefit us. We are now getting ready for the first test at Barcelona, and I am extremely looking forward to the first round of the season at Imola next month!”
The 2023 FRECA season is about to kick-off as the team travels to Barcelona for pre-season testing. The first official round of the championship is scheduled for April 21-23 at the Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari, located on the Southside of Imola, Italy. The ’23 season will count a total of ten rounds spread out over eight different countries.
"It’s needless to say that we are excited to welcome Kas back into our team for the 2023 FRECA season. In fact, he never really left as we used the winter period for a detailed analyses of the previous season and did extensive prep work for the upcoming one. Kas and our crew have grown close together and he is as dedicated and motivated as the team is, so we look forward to a successful season together.’’ says Rob Niessink, CEO of Van Amersfoort Racing.
Van Amersfoort Racing is a professional racing team based in the Netherlands. It was founded by Frits van Amersfoort in 1975. Since then, VAR has built a long tradition of supporting up-and-coming drivers on their way to higher levels. Drivers like Max and Jos Verstappen, Charles Leclerc, Mick Schumacher, Kevin Magnussen and Giedo van der Garde all raced for Frits van Amersfoort’s eponymous team in the early stages of their careers before making it into Formula 1.
