Van Amersfoort Racing is seeking a skilled and dedicated Chief Mechanic to lead our technical team for the FIA Formula 4 series!

Job Description

As the Chief Mechanic for our F4 team at Van Amersfoort Racing, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the maintenance, preparation, and performance optimization of our F4 race cars. You’ll be the driving force behind our technical team, ensuring cars are race-ready and performing at peak levels. Based in Zeewolde, but as you’d expect, this role includes travel to various race events.

Main Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical team of race mechanics by organizing and assigning tasks within the team to ensure efficient operations.  
  • Oversee all routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs, ensuring cars meet technical standards and regulatory compliance.  
  • Coordinate rapid, effective solutions for technical issues during races and test sessions to keep cars running optimally.  
  • Lead the mechanics crew while the team is operating in the pit lane during events.
  • Conduct pre- and post-race technical inspections and quality checks on the cars, ensuring readiness and compliance.  
  • Work closely with the engineering team to translate driver feedback into technical adjustments and (setup) changes.  
  • Manage inventory of spare parts and technical supplies, maintaining an organized warehouse and tracking stock levels.  
  • Train and mentor technical staff, ensuring the team stays current with the latest technologies and procedures.  
  • Uphold strict safety protocols within the technical team, ensuring a safe, regulated work environment.  
  • Collaborate with engineers and provide performance data insights, helping guide the team toward continual improvement.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Chief Mechanic or No.1 Race Mechanic in a Formula racing environment, ideally within F4 or similar categories.  
  • Extensive mechanical knowledge and technical expertise in single-seaters, with experience in team leadership.  
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with a proactive, hands-on mindset.  
  • Excellent communication skills in English; proficiency in Dutch is a plus.  
  • Flexibility to live in or relocate to the Netherlands, with full-time availability including weekends and international travel.
